Hydraulic Test Inspection
Pressure testing procedure of gas cylinders is a crucial element when working with high-pressure gas cylinders. It not only ensures the serviceability of gas cylinders but also protects user safety. Local regulations require each gas cylinder to be inspected once every three years. Cylinders that have not been tested or failed testing must not be filled or used.
SHG operates two hydraulic cylinder test inspection stations, one at Nankang and one at Guishan. These cylinder inspection stations are accredited by the Industrial Gas Association of R.O.C.(IGAROC) or Pressure Vessel Association(PVA). All seamless steel and aluminum cylinders with less than 12 m3 in capacity can be tested.
SHG’s cylinder inspectors must hold the proper qualifications. The procedure for hydraulic test inspection of seamless cylinders must also be followed strictly during cylinder inspections. All cylinders awaiting inspection first undergo a visual inspection by the cylinder inspector to check for surface damage or corrosion. SHG’s computer burette-type pressure tester is then used to check for changes in the cylinder material. Only when all variations are within the acceptable range can the certification ring be printed and fitted. The interior of the cylinder goes through several cleaning procedures during the inspection process as well. Non-conforming cylinders are scrapped in accordance with regulations so they can’t be reused by vendors and pose a hazard.
